Where to Eat and Drink in Cómpeta: Our Local Picks

Cómpeta has one of the better restaurant and bar scenes in the Axarquía region of Málaga for a village its size, and these are the places we'd point our own guests toward when they ask where to eat in Cómpeta. All are within a short 10 to 15 minute drive from Casa Freya.

Adrianos Cocktail Bar

The go-to spot in the village for a proper cocktail, with amazing terraces and a great selection to choose from. Popular with locals, travelers, and hikers coming down from the Sierra de Tejeda looking to unwind.

Casa Paco

A taberna right on the main square, Plaza Almijara, in the thick of Cómpeta's hustle and bustle. Known for its starters and a well priced wine list. Closed Mondays.

El Pilón

Grilled meats cooked to order, in a unique setting with panoramic village views from the upper level. Open evenings, 7 to 11pm.

Cortijo Paco

A restored terrace with some of the best sunset views in Cómpeta, and an indoor dining room with a fireplace for cooler evenings. Mediterranean food, grilled meats, and a serious wine list.

El Pámpano

The largest restaurant in the village, with a big terrace and a varied menu covering everything from grilled meats to fresh fish. Open for dinner only. Closed Mondays.

For something earlier in the day, head to:

La Hierbabuena

A lovely little café near the main car park, open for breakfast and lunch until around 6pm, closed Sundays. Good for eggs benedict, eggs royale and build-your-own sandwiches, with Moroccan inspired lunch plates and a roast chicken special on Fridays.

Cómpeta's restaurant scene has broadened out recently too, with two newer arrivals worth knowing about:

Mum

A newer addition just off the main square on Calle José Antonio, serving modern Indian cuisine, think korma, tikka masala and tandoori. Halal options, takeout and delivery available. Open daily, 1pm to midnight.

El Paraíso

Another recent arrival, with generous indoor and outdoor space and a menu that goes beyond the usual village fare, worth a visit if you're after something a little different.

Most of these Cómpeta restaurants are a short walk from each other in the village centre, easy to combine into one evening if you're deciding between more than one. Whichever you choose, Casa Freya is only a short drive away, so a night out in the Axarquía doesn't mean giving up the view.
